For awhile, my only issue was it displaying metrics no matter what I set it to, and offline maps downloading at something like 1kpbs. But at some point awhile ago, an update ruined it. When I start a track, it will only continuously record if you keep the app in the foreground with the screen unlocked. If you lock the screen, it will stop recording and resume the next time you open it, leaving massive gaps in your track and making the data useless. I thought I found the solution in the app settings, but setting the GPS to stay on made no difference. I will still use this app for Backcountry navigating, but I'm going to have to rely on other means to keep track of distance and elevation.

You can only save one offline map for a small area (I went on a trip to three different areas with limited data coverage; being able to save them all prior to the trip would have been nice. I've got 128gb of storage, why limit maps at all? Of the three places I went, I only found one trail route where there were about a dozen trails. So I guess when you pay, you're paying to create content for them? No thanks.

Always asks for money (upgrade) for offline mode, you never know what you get. And it does not explain what limitations you have before you subscribe. For $5 you get only one the very small detailed map or larger which does not have details. Very slow download process. I downloaded based on good review but it was misleading. You get your surprises when there is no connectivity. Certainly not suitable if you want to go for a trip but do not know precisely where. Spent too much time find limits

Looks like it should be a great package, but after using for several months, buying additional maps, and features, well... it sucks. Will not zoom in very far with the maps, adding and editing hikes is crazy hard. Very confusing interface. Could be awesome, but it's not. Find myself using Google maps which is a very weak hiking app just so I can see accurately where I am.

I got view Ranger because I was less than thrilled with the native mapping app on my Casio Protek. Whereas the standard app only downloads one map at a time and only from mapbox which isn't always available, VR allows my to store multiple maps on the watch. So far I've only used the free maps that come with VR, but found them to be pretty detailed, and the selection of optional maps is impressive. If you use it on the Casio, be aware that you need to learn a new menu structure. Practice

I have a Huawei Watch 2. This app is very good and the only real standalone gps app I could find tht lets you download maps and tracks to your watch so you do not need a internet or phone connection. Its limitation is it is unable to record your track without a phone connection. So for this I need to use another app. It would be awesme if you could add this function. Also It would be nice if you offered a paid version without adds as I would be happy to pay to get the adds removed. It appears you can pay for extra maps but not the app itsself Anyways very good app so far

Love this app so far !!! I ride ATVs frequently and tend to explore new (to me) territory. A couple of times I would have been in trouble if not for this app !! Took a few trail spurs off the main beaten path but was able to follow the trail back thanks to this app. UPDATE: Basically, I'm not happy about the switch to Outdoor Active. This app appears to suck so far. Should've gotten the input from your users first or at least did better research before screwing up a good usable app.

I signed up for premium because it includes "free access to offline maps". So imagine my surprise when I found out that this is only a few "select" maps. To download and use most maps, you have to purchase them separately starting at $6 -- even after upgrading to premium.
