Windy is fully essential for living right on the raw Central Oregon Coast, even without outdoor past-times. The exposure risk is high, waves higher and winds off the charts during the winter. Windy keeps us in touch with developing conditions for all our planning! When the weather is a bit more sanguine, Windy is perfect for planning all our outdoor activities, kite flying, dog walking or even gardening! Weather changes a lot here and being able to at least know uncertainty and aggregate weather behavior and predictions just flat out makes life easier! We use the wave info along with tide and wind to determine sneaker wave formation probability, etc. etc. etc!!!

Update: Looks like the current wind condition on the map was fixed. You can now view current wind conditions on the map again. I will be using this app once again. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The developers changed something in the last update. you can no longer view current wind conditions only wind conditions that are at least 6 hours ahead. this used to be a great app now it is junk and pretty much useless.

Background using alpine maps. Just getting into set, drift, etc. If i were more familiar with all the functions and capabilities of the app, it might rate a 5th star. Helping on some deliveries in the 30 & 40 knot range, and on 1 then entering a bay and going upriver, the app seemed spot on as to wind speed & direction. Being able to zoom out and get a sense of what was coming up was very nice. Beyond that type of usage, you might better refer to other's experience.

Lots of helpful information predicting trends in advancing weather systems! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I can't make heads or tales of the tide function. The reported tides are 3-5 hours off. I have to use a different app that just displays tides to get correct info. Maybe there is something off in the settings but I can't seem to figure it out...

What I really wish is that this app would let me save entire setups as favorites - every screen, every preference. I use the app for sailing, but that's a lot different from how I would want to use it in the neighborhood or walking in the forests. A couple clicks to change entire contexts would make the subscription well worth it.

At first app worked very well, however it doesnt seem to update as you change locations or days for planned extended cruising, so it is a backup resource now, but when it worked I actually preferred it to predictwind, sorry windy loaded it today and seems to have updated itself, also keep in mind this is suggested weather in winds, I've seen predictions off as much as 12 hrs. Not windys fault though, I imagine this would be extremely hard to predict...will post back going on 4day trip soon

Inaccurate. I work on a bridge and need to know the wind and tides to schedule work properly. This app does not match other sources and considering the fact that tides are very predictable there is no reason to have a margin of +/- 3 feet. Layout is nice and the chat function helps but I won't trust this app until I see more accurate numbers.

I'm a sailor, I used to use this app all the time. There was an update about a month ago it continually crashes, they've had me delete the app and upload new ones, 3 times I've uploaded them. No matter what it continues to crash. Their only suggestion is delete it and try and install a new one. I have given up. I am a paid user so keep that in mind if you are thinking of paying for the additional features.

This app might be good for some but in my opinion, it's too cluttered with the information. Also, the reason I gave this app one star is because I subscribed using the annual payment method and after viewing the app, I tried to cancel the subscription within thirty minutes of my subscription and I was informed that my subscription would be cancelled a year later on the renewal date.
