Ulasan untuk BBC: World News & Stories
Extremely happy with this app and with the comprehensive BBC coverage of news. It has written, , well laid out, informative articles with a combination of facts, explanations, and analyses. It also has excellent photographs and videos. I haven't encountered any problems with the app and it seems to work flawlessly.
A good, reliable app & trustworthy news source. I like that articles are in bolder font that I can easily read if I've laid my glasses somewhere! One thing I've never liked is their notifications. A photo w/ 1 line of text doesn't compel me to click. And now their non-photo notifs have gone from 3 tantalizing lines to 1 incomplete thought line (LINE not sentence). I read less BBC now bc their competition (WaPo, NYT, & AP) all notify w/ 3 lines, so I've checked THEM & already read THEIR versions.
Seems they fixed the bug that caused the app to crash. Okay general news source. Occasional misspellings and typos. The one real annoyance is the click bait element of some of the links. There will be some headline about say an African leader. When you tap the link it takes you to a list of events. Supposedly somewhere in that list is the story you want to see. Half the time I can't find it so my Pavlovian response has been to avoid those links, which makes those links a waste of screen space.
Awesome app. Brings the world news to your fingertips. Easily customizable to your news preferences and mostly balanced views. It can get a little cluttered on busy news days. Only complaints is that it does not always update the news and can glitch now and then. Biggest complaint is that stories can be difficult to find once they disappear from the main page.
It is difficult to find a news source that is not biased in one direction or another. So many "news" articles are actually opinion pieces. The two things I like about the BBC News app are that there is less (not no) opinion injected into articles than many news outlets and secondly that I find it refreshing to have access to stories from other parts of the world that other US outlets don't cover.
Content and app organization is fantastic. Recently, however, the app introduced video ads that suddenly open on the screen and, worse, they have sound. The resulting experience is very annoying, distractive and intrusive, not only for the person that is using the app, but for the people around them because the video ads suddenly start playing loudly and sometimes one has to wait a few seconds to stop the video (or rush to find the volume control to lower the volume).
Interesting mix of content. At least they write with better grammar and proofreading than US media! Not as quick with breaking news as Le Monde. Videos work only sporadically (I have no problem with local news apps). Definite slant and bias: too much content about "oppressed" this or that from perspective of journalists/editors with eggagerated self image and inferiority complexes. The good thing is that the bias is easier to spot because you know they are Brits. No way to provide feedback.
I love the BBC and use this app several times a day. But Breaking News is so dramatic for things that are not that high priority, tone it down, read the room. The videos are often not available in the US so I sit through an advert to then be told it's not available in my region. Please get a subscription service that us loyal viewers and readers would gladly pay for in order to get full coverage with no ads. Sometime the videos are slow to play. Carey on!
When the app works, it's good. However, a couple of times per year, the entire app stops launching all together, as it is right now. I clear cache, I clear files, I reboot the phone, I uninstall and reinstall, but all to no avail. There's is also specific content, in Work Life, Future, and Health sections that will sometimes not launch. Eventually something changes and it starts working again.
Thanks so much for your most recent update. Now when I open my BBC app, it shuts down within 5-10 seconds! I don't even get to see the headlines before it closes. It's a real time saver from getting another perspective on current events. I always look forward to the frustration of trying to view the news, only to have the app self close. WELL DONE!!!
