Free, open source. It won't spy on you or track you. It may not be the easiest to set up, but given time to get it where you want it, it's pretty solid. Great IMAP implementation. Some mail services will need an app password to integrate with K-9. I have a dozen accounts configured - with the unified inbox, and been a happy user for over 10 years. And still my favorite to pull all my past emails together into a single view. Works with Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo app passwords very well.

I love this email app for so many reasons. It's flexible in options and aesthetics is the best. However, the for the past two phones and operating systems, its polling function is completely unreliable. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to polling to randomly becoming disabled, then showing it's working again, without making any changes to settings. Very aggravating. Too bad. Hope they get it fixed once and for all.

I've used this app for several years, but the recent update reduced useability. After the update, one of my accounts can no longer send email due to an authentication issue, but the password for the account has not changed. I looked exhaustively, but I can't find the option in settings to re-enter the password. Without that ability this app is dead in the water. Also, it resurrects some old emails and gives them today's date. I switched to the Outlook app, and it works great.

This has been a solid app, despite the loss of usability in the UI. Now I've installed it on a tablet with Android 12. Every few minutes a message pops up that says "K9 Mail keeps stopping" "App Info" or "Close app" It will not run at all. Version is 6.00, just downloaded from Google Play.

I have been using K9 for almost 10 years and loved it. But now the recent updates have made it almost unusable. Fetching takes forever. I can login to webmail faster, so what's the point. Also search is abysmal. I don't know what field the search uses but it doesn't find words that are clearly there. Then when I search the server, it only returns the subject line, no content. I have to wait for content to come in, then all of a sudden all the items disappear and i have to search again.

Doesn't fetch mail after last update. Either IMAP or POP3. It also sticks constantly using the wireless, attempting to connect on about 5 distinct servers. I am able to connect with browsers with no delay. How does one revert to the 'less improved' version? My wife has NOT updated, and her's works fine. Will find another email client if I do not see this one fixed and VERY SOON!

Used this happily for years. But the recent change adds nothing useful, and takes away great features (can't set the notification light color, can't set the vibration pattern). And on my wife's phone, as well as a friend's, it simply doesn't send outgoing mail. No warnings, no apparent errors, messages in the Sent folder. But nobody receives them. I might roll my version back, despite being cumbersome. Or I might look around for other options. In its current form, I don't recommend this app.

It was great until they took a simple interface and goofed it up. In what world do I want to NOT see all three of my email accounts summary, without viewing all emails at once? This update is not right for me. If they don't provide a means to go vack to listing the account summary I will have to switch to another email program or install the old version and stop automatic app updates. I've been using this for over 10 years. It was good enough to pay for - not any more.

I've been using K-9 Mail for ages, but have to stay with Version 5.6 since the new versions are a step in the wrong direction. Totally new design that takes 2-3 times as long to accomplish what I need, and not as clean and easy to use. No wonder so many people have went back to the older version. Even the stock Samsung Email app is better than the updated K-9 Mail.

K-9 has been my favorite mail app for years... right up until the July 2021 update. The new UI is truly awful. Many of the most common tasks are now far more difficult, and they've completely removed some functionality. (1) I can no longer specify custom notifications per account. I have to use either the loud, system-wide notification or no notification at all. (2) I can't poll for email more frequently than 15 minutes. (3) The delete (etc) buttons moved to the top of the screen, away from my thumb, requiring two hands to operate. (4) The app no longer opens to a summary page showing all the unread emails for all of my accounts. (5) Switching from one inbox to another inbox is more difficult and unintuitive. (6) It still doesn't support OAuth2 for my 2FA account. I'm going to try to reinstall the older version or find a different app.
